Trevor,
ReplyDeleteI would not have thought to pick this theme, and I think it is important that you did because it is such a highlighted issue in the news right now. I read online today that Kentucky is being forced to recognize same sex marriages performed in other states, so it is relatable to us, even if we feel far removed from the issue. I also thought your font size and where you cut off your lines was clever and really added to the newsreel.
Trevor, you're blog touches on a topic that has been gaining increasing traction over the past decade. Gay rights demonstrations, lawsuits, and marriage expansions are increasing both nationally and internationally, in part because of the rising numbers of out and GLBT-supportive people across the US. With a recent law passed in KY, as Allie mentions, and the prospect of Michael Sam becoming the NFL's first openly gay player, GLBT issues have a lot of momentum right now. Indeed, discourse has been inflamed by the winter Olympics. Good job bringing these pieces together.
