  1. Allie,
I feel like this post was very well thought-out and it is such a big issue in today’s society. We see it everywhere-- Television, magazines, fashion shows, etc. It negatively affects the mood and self-confidence of girls every day all over the world. It causes issues such as bullying, eating disorders, suicide, and many other extremely harmful things. I love the headline that you included “Skinny Models are Actually Fat.” It relates to the issue many people are approaching: what society considers “fat” in this generation. I recently saw comparison photos between Victoria’s Secret models in 2001 to their models in 2012. What I saw was disturbing, and made me realize how the weight issues of today’s society is out of hand. I like how you talk about celebrities a lot in this newsreel, because they are what have the main impact on our ideas of “skinny” and “fat.” It is sad, because everyone is beautiful in their own way, and just because a woman doesn’t weigh 110 pounds does NOT mean she’s fat! I appreciate you choosing this topic and I really enjoyed it!

  2. Allie,
I totally agree with Erica. I noticed that although your lines speak of “glamorous” things such as models and celebrities that the common woman would be much more amused by the thoughts than they would be I’m sure. It goes back to what you both express…the desire a woman has to feel wanted and desired is not wrong. It’s our societies outlook on the “expected” and the norms. I laughed when I read the last part about “I didn’t need to bring a dude with me”. It the fierce personality of a strong woman who refutes the stereotype that only skinny is beautiful. Well said my dear!
